RecognizeGood.org presented the “Legends of Recognize Good” award for July, 2010 to the late Dorothy Hodson. The presentation ceremony took place Tuesday, July 13th at St. David’s South Austin Medical Center Auditorium. Dorothy Hodson was a volunteer at the South Austin Medical Center for 17 years. She worked over 33,000 volunteer hours at the medical facility.
Ms. Hodson’s dedication helped numerous patients and their families face and overcome issues surrounding the need for medical assistance and care. Mrs. Hodson passed away in December 2009. Accepting the award on her behalf was her son Barry Hodson.
The award was presented by The Honorable Dolores Ortega-Carter, Travis County Treasurer, and Vice President and Treasurer, Samaritan Counseling Center of Austin Board of Directors.
A “Legends of RecognizeGood” recipient is named each month. The award recognizes someone who does extraordinary acts of kindness, charity, and good deeds. The program hopes to create community awareness by illuminating these extraordinary people’s acts of kindness. The recipient receives a $500 “pay it forward” gift.
Ms. Hodson’s gift will be given to The South Austin Medical Center Auxiliary.
